Kids Growing Smarter and Smarter

My boy is 10 years old and I should admit he could be a massive trouble maker. He makes up an excuse for any kind of difficulty he gets into and he knows precisely what to do to get out of these eventualities. I often find myself dazzled at his ingenuity in making stories and plans to get out of difficulty. I only hope he uses these talents for good when he grows up.

I recall one day where it was published that some regular tests were being administered at school. Instead of studying for the test, my son instead did what he loved best, which was play cricket the whole week although the tests were being administered the following monday. I begged him to take five in order to study, but he lie to me and related the tests were being pushed back another month or so. I never heard about tests being pushed back for such a lengthy period of time but I gave my boy the benefit of the doubt. I should have known. My boy hatched one of his diabolical stories again.

Well the following three weeks went by and I had since accepted his lie. However, as we stopped the end of the month I made a decision to remind him again that he should be studying because the pushed back tests were coming up again and he needed to do well. As normal, he was tied up doing what he did best, play Nintendo games. He innocently responded that the tests were essentially given a month previous and that he had already finished them. He then continued gaming as if we never had a talk.

My boy lied so well to me that it was similar to buying a Louis Vuitton fake purse and pretending it was real. That is how good his lies were. You never knew they were even a lie unless you looked extremely closely. I was saddened that my child had gone to such lengths to lie to me. I asked him how he did demanding to understand what he scored and lied again proclaiming he did the best. I would have liked to scream at him. It felt like he was throwing a Louis Vuitton fake handbag in my face, and I believed it was real. I asked to see proof of the results . He then got up and showed me the results . Amazingly, he was speaking the truth. He got all A’s in every subject. It appears he actually is like a Louis Vuitton fake handbag in that his lies were just about true.

I was puzzled about whether to be content that my son did so well on tests or mad due to the fact that he constantly lies to me. I sat him down for a talk and made certain that he knew I appreciated his efforts on the test. I then asked him how he was ready to get such scores since he never studied and was always playing. He simply told me that he had the ability to retain things extraordinarily easily and that he only has to see or hear something once and he remembers it forever. I was dazzled. My child turned out to be a genius, but that still failed to excuse him for lying. Although was very happy to find out my boys amazing abilities, I scolded him for lying and trained him accordingly.
